Authorship Guidelines

Tabib Publication follows the recommendations of the ICMJE for determining authorship. To qualify as an author, individuals must meet the following four criteria:

  1. Significant contribution to the conception, design, data acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of the work.
  2. Involvement in drafting or revising the manuscript critically for important intellectual content.
  3. Final approval of the version to be published.
  4. Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that any concerns about accuracy or integrity are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Authors should not only take responsibility for their own contributions but also be able to identify the roles of their co-authors. Confidence in the integrity of the entire work is essential. All individuals who meet these four criteria must be listed as authors, while those who do not should be acknowledged in the “Acknowledgments” section. Tasks such as funding acquisition, data collection, technical assistance, writing support, and general supervision do not in themselves warrant authorship. Financial and material support must be properly acknowledged, and any person acknowledged must give permission to be included.

Changes to Authorship

It is critical to finalize the list and order of authors before the initial submission of a manuscript. The editors of Tabib Publication generally do not consider changes to authorship after submission. Our policy is as follows:

  • All authors must be listed in the manuscript, and their details entered into the submission system.
  • Any additions, deletions, or rearrangements of author names must be requested before acceptance and approved by the journal editor.
  • The corresponding author must submit the request, explaining the reason for the change, and include written confirmation from all authors agreeing to the modification.
  • Changes to authorship post-acceptance will only be considered in exceptional cases.
  • Manuscript publication may be delayed during the review of an authorship change request.
  • If the manuscript is already published, approved authorship changes will be reflected in an erratum.
  • Unapproved changes may result in the manuscript being rejected or retracted if already published.

Contributorship Statement

Every submitted manuscript must include a contributorship statement that specifies each author’s role in the planning, execution, and reporting of the work.

Funding Sources

Authors are required to disclose any financial support received for their research. The involvement of sponsors in the study’s design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, report writing, and submission should be clearly outlined. If sponsors were not involved, this must be explicitly stated. Funding sources should be listed in the following format:

Funding: This work was supported by [name of funder], [grant numbers].

If no specific funding was received, please include the statement:

Funding: This research did not receive any specific grant from public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors.

Acknowledgments

Contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged for their contributions. Financial support, consultancy, and institutional funding should also be acknowledged.

Competing Interests

Authors must disclose any potential competing interests, such as financial gain or personal relationships, which could affect their professional judgment. These should be included in the cover letter and in the “Competing Interests” section of the manuscript. If no competing interests exist, this should be clearly stated.

Ethical Approval of Research

Tabib Publication adheres to the guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Allegations of publication misconduct are taken seriously, and the journal reserves the right to contact relevant institutions, funders, or regulatory bodies if necessary. If misconduct is confirmed, appropriate actions such as corrections or retractions will be made.

Statement of Ethics Approval

All research articles must include a statement of ethics approval, specifying the ethics committee or institutional review board that approved the study, along with the approval number. If ethics approval was not required, an explanation must be provided.

Patient Consent and Confidentiality

Any manuscript containing identifiable personal medical information requires the patient’s explicit consent. If a patient cannot be traced, anonymization may be an option, provided it protects the individual’s identity. For deceased patients, permission from a relative should be sought. Patient images may only be published with consent unless fully anonymized.

Biosafety and Biosecurity

Research involving genetically modified organisms (GMOs), toxins, pathogens, or radioactive materials must comply with biosafety and biosecurity regulations. Necessary statements regarding these concerns should be included in the manuscript.

Research Reporting Guidelines

Authors are encouraged to adhere to reporting guidelines for their study type, as recommended by the EQUATOR Network. This ensures sufficient detail is provided for peer reviewers and readers to assess the reliability of the findings.

The Key Reporting Guidelines

Randomized controlled trials (RCTs): CONSORT guidelines

Systematic reviews and meta-analyses: PRISMA guidelines and MOOSE guidelines

Observational studies in epidemiology: STROBE guidelines and MOOSE guidelines
Diagnostic accuracy studies: STARD guidelines

Quality improvement studies: SQUIRE guidelines

Clinical Trial Registration

In accordance with ICMJE recommendations, clinical trials must be registered in a publicly accessible registry before participant recruitment. Tabib Publication will not consider manuscripts reporting unregistered trials.

Plagiarism Detection

Tabib Publication uses iThenticate software to detect plagiarism. Direct copying, idea theft, and self-plagiarism are all considered forms of misconduct. If plagiarism is identified, the manuscript may be rejected or retracted.

Plagiarisms (not limited to):

  • Directly copying text from other sources
  • Copying ideas, images, or data from other sources
  • Reusing text from your own previous publications
  • Using an idea from another source with slightly modified language

If plagiarism is detected during the peer review process, the manuscript may be rejected. If plagiarism is detected after publication, we reserve the right to issue a correction or retract the paper, as appropriate. We reserve the right to inform authors’ institutions about plagiarism detected either before or after publication.

Peer-Review Policy

Tabib Publication employs a rigorous double-blind peer-review process. Submissions are reviewed both internally and externally. The editorial team follows a strict policy to ensure fair and unbiased peer review, including for submissions from members of the editorial board.
